Between Jun'21 and Jun'22, Indian citizens received the highest share of visas for students, skilled workers, and visitors.

On Thursday, the British High Commission in New Delhi published the records.

Student visas were issued to nearly 118,000 students in the year ending June 2022, an increase of 89% from the previous year.

For the fiscal year ending June 2022, India surpassed China in terms of sponsored study visas in the U.K. The majority of sponsored study visas go to Indian and Chinese nationals.

Compared to the previous year's data, Indians received 103,000 work visas in the year ending June 2022, an increase of 148%.

The majority of skilled worker visas granted worldwide go to Indian nationals, accounting for 46% of all visas.

The latest UK Immigration Statistics issued shows that 28% of visas were granted with a 630% increase in Indian visitor visas in the year ending June 2022.

Before the pandemic, Chinese nationals were the biggest recipients. To enter or reenter China, individuals must comply with extensive quarantine requirements. Though more than 2,58,000 Indians received tourist visas in the previous calendar year, the number was still down by 50%. During the same period, Chinese nationals experienced the largest decline (6,12,495 or 95%).
