Founded in 1983, the Chevening Scholarship is a prestigious international scholarship program funded by the UK government. It aims to support outstanding individuals with leadership potential to pursue a master's degree in the UK, providing them with access to world-class education and a global network of like-minded individuals. It is a fully funded scholarship (tuition fees, flights, accommodation all included) which focuses on developing the individual professionally, academically and network extensively., experience UK culture, and build lasting positive relationships with the UK.

Having difficulty finding scholarships?
To be eligible for a Chevening Scholarship, you must:
Hold citizenship in a Chevening-eligible country or territory.
Commit to returning to your country of citizenship for a minimum of two years after completing your scholarship award.
Have completed all components of an undergraduate degree that qualify you for entry onto a postgraduate program at a UK university. This usually requires at least an upper second-class 2:1 honours degree or its equivalent.
Possess a minimum of two years' work experience, equivalent to 2,800 hours.
Apply to three eligible UK university courses and secure an unconditional offer from one of them before the deadline of 13 July 2023.
Note: If you already possess a master's degree, it does not disqualify you from applying for a Chevening Award to pursue a second master's degree in the UK. However, you must provide a clear justification for why obtaining a second master's degree would aid you in achieving your career goals of driving positive change in your home country.
The eligible types of work experience for Chevening Scholarship include: Full-time or part-time employment. voluntary work, paid or unpaid internships
Work experience completed before, during, or after undergraduate studies is eligible
Any mandatory employment that counted towards your undergraduate or postgraduate course would not be eligible
The work experience requirement does not have to be met in a single period of employment
Applicants can submit up to fifteen different employment periods to meet the requirement. If you have held more than fifteen positions, enter the periods with the most number of hours worked
If currently employed, it is not necessary to resign, but applicants are advised to discuss the application with their employer and ensure they will be released if selected for the scholarship.
Note: Your total hours worked will be computed by multiplying the number of weeks worked by the number of hours worked per week. Please note that a full-time workweek consists of 35-60 hours and a full-time work year consists of 40-50 weeks.

GraduationIt takes at least eight months from the application deadline for the selection of Chevening Scholars to be completed, and for applicants to be provisionally chosen to receive an award. Here is an overview of the application timeline for Chevening scholarship:

There is an Online Application System (OAS) for the Chevening scholarship. Candidates can apply for the Chevening scholarship through the scholarship portal. The portal will be open by August 2023, when the applicant must create an account, log in, and initiate the process. There will be long answer questions so applicants can note them, prepare answers offline, and copy-paste them. Documents must be uploaded in JPG/PNG/PDF format and less than 5 MB.

Applications that don't align with the eligibility requirements of the Chevening scholarship are immediately eliminated, and eligible ones are considered for the primary evaluation. The selection process for the Chevening scholarship involves an assessment, review, and interview.
An independent committee will assess the applications and pass on the scores of each application to local British Embassy or High Commission.
The British Embassy or High Commission reviews and shortlists candidates for interviews.
Shortlisted candidates will be notified of their interview and must submit two references and academic documents.
Interview panels at UK embassies and High Commission interview the candidates.
Applicants must submit an unconditional offer from a UK university once the interview results are out.

There is no age limit to apply for the Chevening Scholarship.
The English requirements specified by the university are applicable to the Chevening Scholarship. Specific English requirements for Chevening Scholarship were removed in 2020.
The questions in the Chevening Scholarship interview will be centered around the student’s networking, leadership, course selection, and future plans. These questions will assess the student’s motives in selecting a particular program and applying for Chevening Scholarship.
The minimum GPA required for university admission is enough to apply for the Chevening Scholarship. Students may refer to their university website for information regarding he minimum GPA requirement for their course.
Typically, it is not possible to receive another funding when a student is applying for the Chevening Scholarship. If necessary, the student can contact the program officer and submit the details of funding, such as the amount and necessity for additional scholarships.
The eligible courses are full-time master’s programs and not research-based, starting in the autumn term (September or October).
Part-time and distance learning courses are excluded from the Chevening Scholarship. Courses having less than 9 months and more than 12 months duration, Ph.D. or DPhil, and taught more than one month outside the UK are also ineligible for the scholarship.
