Step One: Prepare Documents for Application

To apply to Rutgers University, you need to prepare several important documents. One of the main requirements is to write essays.

Essays

Students must submit a short essay that reflects their original work. The essay can be based on one of the following topics:

• Tell a story from your life that shows your character or how it was shaped.
• Describe a time you made a meaningful contribution to others, focusing on the greater good. Discuss the challenges and rewards you faced.
• Have you ever had a long-held belief challenged? How did you react? How did it change your beliefs?
• What is the hardest part of being a teenager today? What is the best part? What advice would you give to a younger sibling or friend?
• Write an essay on a topic of your choice.

The essay must be no longer than 3800 characters, including spaces.

Step Two: Additional Documents Required

Along with your essays, you need to submit other documents:

• Official high school transcripts or examination results.
• Official transcripts from all colleges or universities you have attended.
• SAT scores (if required).
• English Proficiency Exam scores.
• Self-Reported Academic Record (SRAR) if you are still in high school.
• International Student Financial Statement.
