The Government of Ireland scholarships are the scholarships awarded by the Irish government to its international students. These scholarships are fully funded to provide financial assistance to students. There are two government-funded scholarships in Ireland:

The Government of Ireland International Education Scholarships

A prestigious scholarship for international students in Ireland is the Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship. Each year, 60 places are given out among all Irish higher education institutions.

The Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship includes:

Eligibility

These scholarships are handled by the Higher Education Authority (HEA). Students who apply for the same academic year as the anticipated study year are given priority in the selection process by the Government of Ireland - International Education System. One must meet the following requirements in order to be considered for the Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship: 

  • list items Be an international student (not from EU/ EEA or Switzerland)
  • list items Be applying for admission to a relevant Bachelor, Master, or Ph.D. program at one of the eligible universities or colleges in Ireland offering full-time programs.
  • list items Have a conditional or final admission offer from one of the Higher Education Institutions (HEI) for:  The final year of a UG program One year of a taught master's program One year of a research program

The Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarships

The Irish Research Council (IRC) manages the Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Programme, which is funded by the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation, and Science. All disciplines are considered for the Irish scholarship. The Irish Council awards 280 new postgraduate scholarships in Ireland universities each year.

Eligibility 

International students undertaking a fully-funded part-time honors degree in accredited universities are eligible for the scholarships provided by the Central Bank of Ireland. 

Fulbright Scholarships 

A completely funded scholarship for international students is available through the Fulbright scholarship. This scholarship is exclusively available for postgraduate and doctoral programs. The complete cost of education, a living stipend, full housing costs, flights, and health insurance are all covered by the Fulbright Foreign Student Programme. It also provides a yearly stipend of 10,000 euros to students. People from economically disadvantaged groups, minorities, and individuals from historically underrepresented backgrounds are awarded the scholarships.
