How to register for the IELTS exam?

IELTS test registration is a simple process and can be done by visiting the official website. Students registering for IELTS need to keep a few things in mind, viz. the distance of the test center from their residence, available dates, etc. There are approximately 48 IELTS exam 2024 registration dates. On average, there are four dates each month wherein an aspirant can take the exam. IELTS registration should be done at the earliest in peak months of July and August when most of the students take the exam. So booking an early slot for the exam will help you save time and energy.

Step-by-step instruction for creating the registration account:

Step 1: Log in to the IELTS website

Step 2: Select 'Register for IELTS' to create an IDP IELTS Login

Step 3: Select your preferred test mode - computer-delivered IELTS/ paper-based

Step 4: Select your preferred test type - academic/general testing test

Step 5: Select your preferred exam center.

Step 6: Select your preferred test date.

Step 7: Upload a clear scanned color copy of your passport to complete the process

Step 8: Fill in the registration form

Step 9: Upload copy of your passport

Step 10: Select the university/institute where you would like to send your TRF

Step 11: Pay the IELTS exam fee

IELTS registration 2024: offline mode

IELTS registration can be done offline by visiting IDP India office. An applicant has to download the form, take the printout and then fill the form. The IELTS test registration form has to be submitted at the office with the fee of INR 16,250. The payment can be made through Credit Card/ Debit Card, ICICI Bank deposit slip, or Demand Draft. The offline registration is provided by the exam conducting bodies for students facing issues with the online applications. There can be some issues with the online process while filling the online form, e.g., documents not getting accepted or payment-related issues.

Can we reschedule the speaking test date in the IELTS exam registration?

No. There is no provision for rescheduling the IELTS speaking test date. Since the dates are system generated, applicants have to take the test on their date. However, the test dates can be changed for the rest of the tests.

Is the IELTS test at home option different from the one conducted at the test center?

There is some difference in terms of countries and universities accepting the score. Countries like Canada, New Zealand, and Australia aren’t accepting IELTS indicator scores. So it's better to check with the university beforehand since there is a substantial fee and effort is involved in the test. However, the IELTS test registration process is the same.

How are IELTS registration dates affected amid the COVID-19 pandemic?

The dates haven’t seen any changes since the option of taking the test from home is provided by the exam conducting bodies. There are four dates per month, so a student can take the exam by choosing a suitable date from the list of dates available.

When the test dates have opened and when will it end for the calendar year 2023?

The IELTS exam registration started in the month of January and will end in the month of December. The test dates began on 7th January, and the last available test date is 16th December. An applicant can choose a date at his convenience and take the test any number of times on the available dates in a year.
