The following are the prerequisites: 1) History and Social Science: 1 year of U.S. history or 1 semester of U.S. history and 1 semester of civics or American government, and 1 year of social science. 2) English: 4 years of college preparatory English composition and literature. 3) Math: 4 years of college preparatory math covering algebra, geometry, and intermediate algebra. 4) Laboratory Science: 2 years of college preparatory science with a lab (1 biological and 1 physical). 5) Language Other Than English: 2 years or up to the second level of high school instruction in the same language. 6) Visual and Performing Arts: 1 year or 2 semesters from the same discipline (dance, music, theatre, visual arts, or interdisciplinary arts). 7) College Preparatory Elective: An additional year chosen from the University of California 'a-g' list.
