In this program, you will study everything found in the earth's environment, including plants, animals, ecosystems, and climate patterns, and how these elements connect with each other. There are two areas of focus: ecology and environmental chemistry. Both paths dive deeply into various scientific fields, with each one emphasizing either ecology or environmental chemistry.

The environmental science major looks at the physical, chemical, and biological aspects of our world. The program aims to help students grow in six important areas:

• Knowledge base: Show that you understand and can explain key biological and scientific concepts.
• Laboratory procedures: Show that you can safely and effectively collect and analyze data using lab equipment.
• Scientific inquiry: Develop skills to investigate and think critically about complex questions and solve difficult scientific problems.
• Scientific communication: Show that you can communicate scientific information clearly to both scientists and non-scientists using spoken and written forms.
• Vocation and ethics: Recognize how careers in science offer chances to serve Christ and others and require ethical behavior in all scientific practices.
• God’s design and stewardship: Show an understanding of how a Christian views evidence of God’s design in nature and how to take good care of His creation.

12th Grade

To apply, students must have graduated from a high school that is similar to US standards. They need a GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, which means they must complete at least 16 units of high school work. Out of these, at least 11 units should be in basic liberal arts subjects. Here is how the units should be distributed: - English: At least 3 units, but 4 units are strongly recommended. - Mathematics: 2 units of college-prep math, ideally one in Algebra and one in Geometry. - Natural Science: 2 units, preferably one in Biology and one in either Physics or Chemistry. - Social Studies: 2 units, ideally one in world history and one in American history. - Liberal Arts: 2 units in the same foreign language or additional units in other subjects or fine arts. - Other Electives: 5 units from any academic area, preferably from the subjects above. For pre-seminary students, taking German or Latin is recommended.
