Step One: Prepare Your Application Documents

Essays

You may choose to write a personal essay. This is optional, but if you have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is very important to you, please share your story.

• Think about a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did it affect you? What did you learn from this experience?
• Reflect on a moment when you questioned or challenged a belief or idea. What made you think this way? What was the result?
• Describe a problem you have solved or want to solve. This could be an intellectual challenge, a research question, or an ethical issue that matters to you. Explain why it is important and what steps you took or could take to solve it.
• Discuss an achievement, event, or realization that led to personal growth and understanding of yourself or others.
• Describe a topic, idea, or concept that you find so interesting that you lose track of time. Why does it interest you? Who or what do you turn to when you want to learn more?
• You can also write an essay on any topic you choose. It can be one you have already written, one that answers a different prompt, or a new topic of your choice.

Secondary School Transcripts

Your transcripts must show at least three full years of your recent secondary school grades, including any courses you are currently taking.

If your transcript is in a language other than English, please include a word-for-word English translation along with your original transcript.
