Application Process for Harvard University

Step 1: Prepare Your Application Documents

Letters of Recommendation (LOR)

Applicants need to obtain three letters of recommendation. Ideally, at least two should be from college or university instructors. If you have been out of school for some time, you can request letters from employers or others who can evaluate your professional skills and academic potential. You can submit up to five recommendations. It's okay to submit your application even if your recommenders haven't sent their letters yet.

Essays

As an MLA applicant, you must respond to the following questions:

• How have your experiences and background prepared you for studies in landscape architecture at the GSD, and what do you envision for your future career? (Limit to 250 words)
• Describe a work of landscape architecture you have visited and what you find inspiring about it. Focus on personal impressions rather than information from design publications. (Limit to 250 words)
• Water is central to life and can be serious or fanciful, simple or complex. Describe something compelling about water, such as experiential, systemic, chemical, spiritual, or political aspects. (Limit to 250 words)

Resume

Applicants must upload a resume that includes employment, education, extra-curricular activities, honors, awards, professional registrations, societies, publications, hobbies, and travel experiences.

Step 4: Application Fees

The application fee is USD 90 (approximately INR 7.58 Thousand). The Monthly Payment Plan (MPP) allows students to pay tuition and mandatory fees in four installments each semester. There is a $35 fee per semester to participate in the MPP. Students must pay monthly installments by the due date each month and clear all past due charges before the start of each semester to remain eligible.
