Step One: Prepare Documents for Application

You need to gather important documents for your application.

• Letters of Recommendation (LOR): You need three letters of recommendation. These letters should explain your academic background and your potential to succeed in graduate studies. They must be addressed to the graduate program director and sent directly by the person recommending you to Northern Kentucky University, Office of Graduate Education, AC 302, Nunn Drive, Highland Heights, KY 41099. They can also be emailed to graduate@nku.edu.

Along with your application, you must submit the following documents:

• Official transcripts for all undergraduate and graduate work, including any work transferred from other institutions.
• An academic writing sample, such as an undergraduate research paper. If you do not have a current writing sample, you can ask the graduate program director for an alternative writing prompt.
• A 500-word statement of interest explaining why you want to earn a Master’s in Communication at Northern Kentucky University.
• Proof of English Language Proficiency (ELP).
• A photocopy of your passport.
• A declaration and certification of finances from your sponsors.
