Step One: Prepare Documents for Application

Statement of Purpose (SOP)

All applicants must submit a personal statement or essay. This statement should clearly explain your career goals and show your commitment to improving public health. You can do this by discussing your past education, volunteer work, or research in public health.

In the SOPHAS application, you need to provide a 1-2 page statement of purpose. This should include:

• Why: Why do you want to earn a Master of Public Health (MPH) at Sacred Heart University?
• What: How is your previous education, research, or volunteer experience relevant to this field?
• How: How will you use your MPH degree in your career in public health, research, or medical practice?

Letters of Recommendation (LOR)

You need to provide two letters of recommendation. Your recommenders should talk about your academic strengths and professional work. They should also discuss your potential for success in graduate studies and your future as a public health professional.

SOPHAS allows for electronic submission of all letters of recommendation.

Curriculum Vitae (CV)

A current curriculum vitae or resume is required. Please upload this document directly to the SOPHAS application.

Step Two: Additional Documents Required

• Official transcripts from all colleges and universities you have attended.
• Proof of English language proficiency.
• A copy of your passport's photo page.
• A signed Agent/Educational Consultant Release for Sacred Heart University is required for all applicants, even if you are not working with an agent.
• A bank statement that shows you, your family, or your sponsors can afford the costs to attend Sacred Heart University for one year.

International students have the option to pay their fees in full or through an installment plan:

• Monthly Online Installment Payment Plan in either 3 installments (for Fall, Spring, or Summer) or 5 installments (for Fall or Spring semesters only).
