Students must have completed high school with good grades and hold one of the following certificates: Higher Secondary School Certificate, Higher Secondary Certificate, Indian School Certificate, Intermediate Examination Certificate, All India or Delhi Senior School Certificate, Pre-university Certificate, or Pre-Degree Certificate. The required subjects include History & Social Science (with one year of U.S. history and one semester of civics or American government), English, Maths (algebra, geometry, intermediate algebra, or higher), Laboratory Science (one physical and one biological), a Language other than English (same language; possible waiver), Visual & Performing Arts, and a college preparatory elective from the school’s A-G course list. Students need a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or a B- average in academic courses after 9th grade. For those aiming for physics, astronomy, and astrophysics programs, four years of math through pre-calculus and one year each of chemistry, physics, and computer programming is recommended.
