The Statement of Purpose helps the admissions committee understand your preparation, readiness, and motivation for graduate social work education. It is also a writing sample, so make sure to focus on the quality of your writing.

Letters of Recommendation (LOR)

You need to submit three professional or academic recommendations using the online recommendation form. For Advanced Standing applicants, the recommendations should focus on your readiness for an advanced clinical internship.

• One recommendation should come from your senior BSW field placement supervisor.
• Another should be from a BSW faculty member who can discuss your overall performance in courses and placements.
• If you have worked in a social work position for at least one year after your BSW, you can submit a letter from your MSW employment supervisor.

Essays (Only for Advanced Standing Applicants)

Write a 2-3 page essay that discusses your BSW learning and your future learning goals.

Curriculum Vitae (CV)

You must upload a detailed résumé before submitting your online application form. Your résumé should include your relevant work and volunteer experiences, education, and any professional training or certificates. If there are gaps in your work or volunteer experience, explain them in your personal statement. You can also submit a CV.
