Step 1: Prepare Your Documents

Letters of Recommendation (LOR)

• Submit two letters of reference.
• One must be from your current direct supervisor or the next best alternative at work.
• The second letter should be from another individual who has supervised your work.
• If you lack full-time work experience, you can use a supervisor from a summer, part-time, or internship position. Alternatively, someone who managed you in extracurricular, research, volunteer, or community activities is acceptable.
• Recommendations can be chosen from professional, community, or extracurricular experiences.

The recommendation should include:

1. Comparison of the applicant's performance with others in similar roles, including specific examples of strengths (up to 500 words).
2. Details of the most constructive feedback given to the applicant and their response (up to 500 words).
3. (Optional) Any additional information that could be helpful.

Essays

Applicants must upload a single document containing both essays. The combined word limit is 1,150 words, and it should be double-spaced.

• Essay A: What matters most to you, and why? (750 words) Reflect deeply and write from the heart. Explain why what matters most to you is so important, and describe the people, insights, or experiences that have shaped your perspective.
• Essay B: Why Stanford? (400 words) Describe your goals and how a Stanford GSB experience will help you achieve them. If applying to both the MBA and MSx programs, address your interest in both.
