Statement of Purpose (SOP)

Submit a Statement of Purpose (maximum 4,000 characters). This essay is important for art programs. It will be evaluated on content, style, grammar, and structure.

• Students should write their essay in a word processing program first, then copy and paste it into the application.
• Describe aspects of your work that are not shown in your portfolio.
• Share your past experiences, creative interests, and future goals as an artist or designer.
• The statement should be clear and concise. Remember, the essay has a limit of 4,000 characters.

Letter of Recommendation (LOR)

Submit a letter of recommendation from an academic teacher or school counselor.

Submit a personal statement as part of the SUNY Supplemental Application or the Common Application. You can use the SUNY International Applicant Essay form and choose any topic for your autobiographical essay.
