Application Process for Texas Tech University

Step One: Prepare Documents for Application

Gather the required documents for your application:

• Letters of Reference (LOR): You need two letters of reference. These letters should come from people who know your academic skills and work experience.

Step Two: Additional Documents Required

In addition to your letters of reference, you will need:

• Letter of Intent: Write a letter explaining how getting an M.L.A. degree from Texas Tech will help you reach your goals and make an impact in the world.
• Digital Portfolio: Create a digital portfolio in PDF format. This should include your graphic and/or creative works, such as: Drawings Sketches Photography Images of landscape projects Creative writing Any other artistic work that shows your interests and future goals
• Transcripts: Request official transcripts from your previous schools. These should be sent directly to the Texas Tech University Graduate School.
• Proof of English Language Proficiency (ELP): Provide proof that you meet the English language requirements.
• GRE (Optional): You may submit GRE scores, but it is not required.

Step Four: Application Fees

You can pay the fee using a credit card. There are two payment options available:

• Budget Payment Option: Pay the total amount in four equal parts (25% each). A service charge of $25 is due when you set this up. If you miss a payment, there will be a late fee of $50 for each missed installment.
• Emergency Payment Plan: The first payment is 25% of the total. The second payment is 37.5% of the original total. The last payment is the remaining balance. A service charge of 1.25% of your tuition and fees (up to a maximum of $25) is due when you set this up. A late fee of $50 will be charged for each missed payment.
