    Statement of Purpose (SOP)

A 1-2 page document is required. Applicants can choose one of two general approaches for writing their personal statement:

    • list items Chronological: Write no more than one paragraph about your childhood and school years, unless something important happened that relates to your studies. Discuss your research interests and any past projects or experiences that have influenced your desire to pursue graduate studies in your field. You do not need to mention previous institutions or faculty unless there is something significant that is not obvious to the scientific or professional community.
    • list items Thematic: Organize your statement around one or two key ideas, usually related to your research field or main interest.

    Letters of Recommendation (LOR)

Three Letters of Recommendation are required. These letters can be uploaded by the recommender into the application form. They must be on official letterhead, include personal contact information, a signature, and the current date. An academic reference is preferred.
