They must have degrees in civil engineering, geological engineering, or another engineering field. Students with backgrounds in geology, physics, mathematics, or hydrology can apply but must finish any required courses before admission. If applicants do not have a B.S. degree in civil or geological engineering, they must show proof of completing certain undergraduate courses: mathematics up to differential equations, and one semester each of chemistry, calculus-based physics, and engineering statics. If a student has less than a 3.00 GPA, their application may still be considered if they have a GPA of 3.0 or higher in their last 60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits, have worked in a related field for over 5 years, have a letter of support from a faculty member, and provide a detailed statement describing their professional experience and ability to succeed academically.
