Step One: Prepare Your Application Documents

• Letter of Recommendation (LOR) You need an academic recommendation letter from a school-based counselor or teacher.
• Essays A personal essay is required. Choose one of the following topics and write about 500 words: Evaluate a significant experience, achievement, risk you have taken, or an ethical dilemma you have faced and how it impacted you. Discuss some issues of personal, local, national, or international concern and why they are important to you. Indicate a person who has influenced you significantly and describe that influence. Describe a character in fiction, a historical figure, or a creative work (like art, music, or science) that has influenced you, and explain how. Share an experience that shows what you would bring to the diversity in a college community or an encounter that showed you the importance of diversity. Choose another topic that you prefer.

Step Two: Additional Documents Required

• An official high school record, leaving certificate, and/or graduation examination results, or their notarized copies.
• All documents in foreign languages must be translated by a certified professional.
• Proof of English language proficiency.
• SAT/ACT scores (if applicable).
• Submit the Certification of Finances Form, which shows your ability to pay for education and living expenses at UMass Boston.
• Include a letter of support (in English) from your sponsor(s), unless you are using personal funds. This letter must state that they will cover all your expenses while you study at the university.
• Include a current bank statement from your sponsor.

• The application fee is USD 100 (approximately INR 8.43 thousand).
• The university offers an installment plan for students to pay their tuition fees in easy monthly payments each semester.
