Step 1: Prepare Your Documents

Statement of Purpose (SOP): Your SOP should be a clear and concise statement about your academic and research background, as well as your career goals. Explain how the graduate program at the University of Michigan will help you achieve these goals. The SOP should be 1-3 pages long.

Letters of Recommendation (LOR): For master's programs, two letters are required. One must be from an academic professor.

Curriculum Vitae (CV): Your CV should be 1-4 pages long. While writing samples, articles, or journal papers are encouraged, you may include no more than two.

Step 2: Additional Documents Needed

Transcripts: Upload a scanned copy, front and back, of your official transcript from each degree (bachelor’s, master’s, etc.) to ApplyWeb. This scanned copy is for the initial review by the faculty.

Personal Statement: This should describe the journey that led you to pursue a graduate degree. It can be up to 2 single-spaced pages. The 500-word limit is not applicable.
