Each scholarship recipient receives a monthly payment of INR 27,279 of which INR 13,639 is given by the federal government and INR 13,639 by private sponsors, which include foundations, businesses, and people. Scholarships are given for at least two semesters but can be given for as long as the typical length of study allows.

The documents required for the Deutschlandstipendium Program are:
Students in their first and second semesters can apply straight to their university if they have a Deutschland Stipendium.
Applicants for master's programmes must submit their undergraduate degree certificate.
For matriculated students, a current transcript stating their unweighted average grade (or evidence of their average grade/final grade on the most recent examination or degree completed) is required.
The Deutschlandstipendium or German Scholarship application can be submitted online via the Deutschlandstipendium official website.
All supporting documentation must be in English or German. Documents issued in other languages must be given as an original copy as well as an officially certified translation. Because the application period varies from university to university, it is best to double-check the deadlines before applying for the scholarship.

The Germany Scholarship is paid directly to the scholarship holders by the universities. The grant is available regardless of income and can be combined with BAföG.
