12th Grade
First-year students must have a GPA of 3.00 (a "B" or better where "A"=4.00) from their secondary school. They need three years of high school coursework. If they are still in high school, ASU needs to see their 9th to 11th grade coursework. If they have finished high school, ASU needs to see their 10th to 12th grade coursework. Students must have a high school diploma or certificate. For international students who completed high school outside the U.S., they must meet these requirements: four years of math (algebra I, geometry, algebra II, and one course needing algebra II), and three years of lab science (one year each from biology, chemistry, earth science, integrated sciences, or physics). For admission to ASU, applicants need: 4 years of math, 4 years of English (non-ESL/ELL), 3 years of lab sciences, 2 years of social sciences (including 1 year of American history), 2 years of the same second language, and 1 year of fine arts or 1 year of career and technical education. Also, students need to be in the top 25% of their high school graduating class or have a 3.00 GPA in competency courses.
