To get admitted to Arizona State University (ASU), first-year students must have a grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 or better from high school. This means a 'B' average where 'A' equals 4.00. Students need to have completed three years of high school courses. If they are still in high school, ASU needs to see their 9th to 11th-grade work. If they have finished high school, ASU needs their 10th to 12th-grade work. Students must also have a high school diploma or certificate. For international students, there are specific requirements in math and science. They need four years of math (including algebra I, geometry, algebra II, and one more math course). They also need three years of lab sciences, with one year each from biology, chemistry, earth science, integrated sciences, or physics. The required courses for admission include: 4 years of math, 4 years of English (non-ESL/ELL), 3 years of lab sciences, 2 years of social sciences (including 1 year of American history), 2 years of the same second language, and 1 year of fine arts or career and technical education. To be accepted, students must be in the top 25% of their high school class or have a 3.00 GPA in their required courses.
