To be accepted into Arizona State University (ASU), first-year students must have a minimum GPA of 3.00 (which is a 'B' average where 'A' equals 4.00) and complete three years of high school coursework. Students must also have a high school diploma or certificate. International students who completed high school outside the U.S. must meet specific course requirements in math and science, which include four years of math (algebra I, geometry, algebra II, and one more advanced course), and three years of lab science (one year each from biology, chemistry, earth science, integrated sciences, or physics). To be admitted, applicants need the following coursework: 4 years of math, 4 years of English (non-ESL), 3 years of lab sciences, 2 years of social sciences (including 1 year of American history), 2 years of the same second language, and 1 year of fine arts or career/technical education. Additionally, students must be in the top 25% of their high school class or have a GPA of 3.00 in these courses.
