Overview

California Maritime Academy, also known as CSU Maritime Academy or Cal Maritime, is a public university located in Vallejo, California. It is part of the California State University system and is the only Maritime Academy on the West Coast of the United States. Established in 1929, the academy has a unique campus that serves around 1,051 students. The campus is by the water, facing the ocean, providing a serene environment for learning. One of its standout features is the annual training cruise on a 500-foot training ship. This ship serves as a classroom and laboratory where students learn about maritime engineering, technology, and transportation. The academy also offers study-abroad trips that give students in logistics, international business, maritime policy, and maritime security real-world exposure to these fields in various countries around the globe. The Cal Maritime Program combines classroom learning with leadership skills, global awareness, and practical technology.
