Overview

Marquette University is located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It is a private Jesuit research university that was founded on August 28, 1881. The university was started by John Martin Henni, the first Bishop of Milwaukee. Marquette has around 1,200 academic staff and 11,600 students, including 8,400 undergraduates and 3,200 postgraduates. Marquette University was named after Father Jacques Marquette, a 17th-century missionary and explorer.
