The University of Richmond (UR) is a well-known private university located in Richmond, Virginia. Established in 1830 by Virginia Baptists, it originally started as a manual labor school for men. Over the years, it has grown into a respected institution and moved to its current campus in 1914. In 1920, it officially became a university and adopted its current name. UR is part of several educational groups, including the Associated Colleges of the South and the Southeastern Universities Research Association.
